The Relationship Tune-up

This evening, while preparing to write on my laptop, I received a notification that periodic maintenance should be run. As computers running the Windows operating system are prone to clutter and broken items, I’ve long used an awesome utility program that spins through various segments of the system set up and file space and recommending appropriate clean-up.

It does a wonderful job of showing broken items, junk data, redundant cache and potentially nasty tracking cookies.

Then, with one click of a button all is either purged, fixed, or made ineffective, resulting in a computer that is operating in an optimal state.

I was then inspired to write today’s blog post: The relationship tune-up.

My philosophy of a relationship is that they’re essentially two sets of energy – yours & theirs – and the relationship is the result of the combination of said energy sets. Thus, it’s a given that when one set of energy changes, the combination result – your relationship – will change also.

We all know that life happens and there’s a myriad of things daily that consume your energy, stress you out, irritate you and add to the constantly expanding list of To Do’s. Your partner will be experiencing the same also and the impact to that precious combination of energy is obvious.  

While it is not always possible to show up in a perfect state most of the time, it is possible to give yourself a tune-up to free yourself from as much of the un-serving stuff as possible.

Your Relationship Tune-Up is primarily a self-care practice where you position yourself to be in the best possible energetic state in each moment and have awareness of tools & practices to support you when something invades your space and impacts your energy.

 One of the most important concepts is your daily practice. Specifically, your sleep, your diet, your exercise, your quiet time, your exposure to negative energies and how you spend your time. Taking care of yourself physically, emotionally, mentally & spiritually will help ensure you maximize the probability of bringing the best of you to whatever is in front of you – especially your relationship.

The more conditioned you are to being in this space, the better able you’ll be to return to it if & when something happens that disturbs you. Life is life and there’s often something that pops up that is unpleasant and threatens your energetic space. A simple question to ask yourself is can you do anything about it? If the answer is no, it doesn’t serve you to waste energy on it. Granted, it does take some time to be able to separate your energy from certain things that happen albeit it’s worth practicing to keep your energy where you want it.

Often, the response that you experience is really nothing to do with what is happening in the moment and is actually some stored memory that is getting triggered. Being aware of such happenings is a great starting point, even if you can’t articulate exactly what is going on. A skilled coach & energy healer can help identify & resolve such entities – especially those that are in your ‘blind spot’.

When you’re feeling that something is off in your relationship, give yourself a tune-up check in to see if anything has come up in you that requires your attention.

There will be times when both you and your partner are not in the same space at the same time and it’s important to take care of your stuff while being loving & understanding with your partner and supporting them in getting what they need to take care of themselves.

While there is no app available that can do the relationship tune-up for you, working with a coach & energy healer can support you in clearing that which does not serve you and establishing the practice to keep you relationship energy where you want it.

The beautiful thing about Human Design is that it shows you a picture of your true self and explains why you think, feel and act the way that you do. And that it is perfectly okay. It is simply who you were made to show up in this world as. And, when you do that, you’ll be amazed at how much smoother life seems to flow.
